Matt Noone brings
extensive coaching experience to Babson as the Beavers’ new skipper,
following Mike Reed’s departure to the US Army. Noone arrives on the Babson
baseball scene from Northeastern University, where he was assistant coach
for 12 years. He was actively involved with all phases of the Northeastern program
and, as NU Head Coach, Neil MacPhee, commented: “Matt Noone played a major
role in the success of our baseball program over the past 12 years. He is a
big loss for us and we will miss his many talents, but the Babson
opportunity was simply too good for him to pass up and we wish him only the
best. Mark my words, he will be a terrific leader for the Babson baseball
program.” The new skipper takes over the
directorship of the Babson Baseball Summer Camp. A 1990 graduate of Princeton
University, Noone earned a BA in History. In 2000, Noone earned an MA in
Educational Administration from Boston College. He had a stellar baseball
career at Princeton, where he was a four-year starting pitcher for the
varsity nine, captaining the Tigers in his senior year. The crafty southpaw
earned many honors for his diamond exploits, including a spot on the NCAA
Division I All-Northeast District team and twice
being named to the All-Ivy League squad. He was also an All-Star hurler in
the Intercity League for several years.
