Head Coach Matt Noone

Matt Noone enters his sixth season as the Beavers’ skipper, after leading the Beavers to a 25-14 record in 2007, good enough for the NCAA's number eight ranking among New England Division III baseball schools. In 2004, Noone led the Babson 9 to its first-ever NEWMAC championship and an NCAA regional berth. Noone arrived on the Babson baseball scene from Northeastern University, where he was assistant coach for 12 years. He was actively involved with all phases of the Northeastern program and, as NU Head Coach, Neil MacPhee, commented: “Matt Noone played a major role in the success of our baseball program over the 12 years he was with us. It is good to see that he has continued his terrific leadership with the Babson baseball program.” Noone also serves as the director of the Babson Baseball Summer Camp.

In addition to his tenure at Northeastern, Noone’s coaching experience includes the Bourne Braves and Hyannis Mets of the Cape Cod Baseball League, as well as the Peter Fuller Baseball Club in the Intercity League. He has also served as director and instructor at several baseball camps throughout the northeast. He had a three-year stint as Lead Charter of the Boston Red Sox for Inside Edge, a major league baseball scouting service, rating all players’ performances. He is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association. During the entire time he was coaching at Northeastern, Noone was on the faculty at St. Sebastian’s School in Needham, where he taught US History, Geography, and Algebra.

A 1990 graduate of Princeton University, Noone earned a BA in History. In 2000, Noone earned an MA in Educational Administration from Boston College. He had a stellar baseball career at Princeton, where he was a four-year starting pitcher for the varsity nine, captaining the Tigers in his senior year. The crafty southpaw earned many honors for his diamond exploits, including a spot on the NCAA Division I All-Northeast District team and twice being named to the All-Ivy League squad. He was also an All-Star hurler in the Intercity League for several years.

Coach Noone was named 2004 NEWMAC Coach-of-the-Year for his role in leading the Beavers to the NEWMAC title and its first-ever appearance at the NCAA playoffs. During the Red Sox march to the 2004 World Championship, Coach Noone served as a batting practice pitcher, a  role he continues to play for the Bosox.

A Belmont native, Noone and his wife, Sarah, reside in Needham. They have three children.

Assistant Coach Norm Govoni

A fixture on the Babson campus for 38 years, Norm Govoni begins his sixteenth season as assistant coach. Govoni is a Wellesley native and former baseball standout at Wellesley High School and The Tilton School. After receiving his B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from Syracuse University, where he played freshman baseball for the Orangemen, Dr. Govoni earned his Ph.D from the University of Missouri. He taught at Syracuse University, the University of Missouri, and Bowling Green State University, before arriving at Babson in 1970. At Babson, he has earned awards for teaching and service.

The driving force behind the Babson College Athletics Hall of Fame, the Professor of Marketing serves as Babson's NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative and chairman of the Athletics Advisory Committee. In his younger days, Govoni played amateur baseball in the Boston Park League and the Blackstone Valley League. In 2003, he was honored by the Boston Park League with the Thomas A. Yawkey Sportsman Award for his contributions to amateur baseball. Govoni serves as a hitting and outfield coach for the Beavers.

Dr. Govoni resides in Medfield. His wife of 41 years, Terry, passed away in January 2005. She was an avid supporter of Babson baseball. They have three children.

Assistant Coach Brendan Ryan

A 2003 graduate from Northeastern University, Brendan is in his fifth season with Babson baseball and will be working with the pitching staff.  Brendan started his collegiate career at Providence College.  He then transferred to Northeastern when they dropped their baseball program due to Title IX.

As a player, Ryan was a four-year starter and served as captain for his junior and senior years.  He has been part of two conference championships.  The Friars won the Big East in 1999 and the Huskies won the America East in 2003.  His PC team went to Florida State for the NCAA Division 1 Regional and last year’s NU team went to LSU.

In addition, Brendan received the Herbert W. Gallagher award in 2003, which is given to the top male Northeastern student athlete.  He was also honored with the America East Conference Scholar Athlete for baseball. As a member of the Hines/ADSL team in the Boston Park League, Brendan was selected to the league's 2004 All-Star team as a pitcher. During the 2004 BPL campaign, the hard-throwing righty was second among moundsmen in innings pitched and wins, as he fashioned a 1.06 ERA.

Brendan is currently working as a Teaching Assistant at the Wellesley Middle School.  He resides in Canton, Massachusetts.

Assistant Coach Peter Pasquarosa

Peter arrived at Babson in 2007, following a two-year stint with the Boston College baseball program, where he helped the Eagles to a school-record 37 wins in 2005 and was instrumental in guiding the BC transition to the Atlantic Coast Conference. Prior to Boston College, Coach Pasky skippered the Franklin High School baseball team for 13 years, during which his teams averaged 14 wins per season. In 2000, he led the Panthers to a school-record 21 consecutive wins, the Hockomock League titles (among the three during his helm), and a sectional championship (one of three times his team made the sectional finals). For his great year in 2000, Peter was recognized as the Boston Globe Coach-of-the-Year and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Coach-of-the-Year. Testimony to his coaching abilities, 33 of his Franklin High School players went on to play college baseball.

Pasquarosa played his collegiate ball as a shortstop for the Georgia Southern University 9. He has served as a coach for the Harwich Mariners and the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the Cape Cod League.

Coach Pasky and his wife, Linda, live in Franklin. They have four children.
