 going for his Beaver hitters.

Dave Burton makes a nice running catch.

Steve Davidson takes a pitch high. On the next pitch, he flied out to deep center on a circus catch by the Suffolk flychaser.

Skip Short gets it done with the glove. Here he makes an acrobatic pickup of a grounder, then throws out the runner.

Mike Hume looks for something good to hit.

Steve Bowen rounds second and heads for
third on a Rick Loewenstein base-hit.
Bowen's nifty hook-slide got him in safely.

Rob McCulloch shoots a line-drive single leading
off the seventh inning vs. SMU. McCulloch's hit ignited a late-game comeback that saw the Beavers erase a 7-0 deficit to defeat the Corsairs, 8-7. McCulloch also picked up the win with a sterling relief effort on the mound.

Southpaw Craig Robertson fires a pitch.

Rick Loewenstein.

Kerry Schabowski.

Stirling after arriving at third base.

1B Rob McCulloch stretches to snare
a low throw and make the putout. The nice play got the Beavers out of a seventh-inning jam vs. Suffolk.

Steve Bowen motors to third on a three-base hit.

Hot-hitting Skip Short blasts a double to left, knocking in the go-ahead run
in the Beaver 6-4 victory over Suffolk. Short was in the midst
of a rampage with the bat, hitting over .400. Action came on Parents Weekend.

Catcher Rick Loewenstein gets the throw too
late to prevent the Suffolk runner from scoring.

New York Islanders coach Steve Stirling and Rick Loewenstein, '82, along with
Rick's wife, Dana, and two sons. Steve and the Loewys enjoyed dinner in Detroit,
the night before Stirling's Islanders pinned a loss on the Red Wings. Steve was skipper
of the Babson 9 and Rick was the team captain and MVP in 1982. Loewenstein
also played on the Babson hockey team coached by Stirling. [December 4, 2005]
