March 1, 1977
C/INF/OF John Dolan is elected 1977 captain of Babson baseball, marking the
third consecutive season he will serve as captain of the Beaver 9.
March 1, 1990
OF Jeff Ewing, P Mike O'Connor, and P Jamie Rice elected captains of the 1990
edition of Babson baseball.
March 1, 1991
SS Ian Baxter and 1B Dave Zaslaw elected captains of the 1991 Babson baseball
team.

First practice for the newly-formed Babson College baseball club. Twenty-three
players report. Practice held at Kelly School Playground, off Weston Road, three
miles from campus.
March 13, 1994
In the season opener, played
at Cocoa Beach, Fla., Babson lost to Rutgers, 6-5. Babson outhit Rutgers, 9-5,
but the Jersey 9 made the most of its hits and capitalized on a two-run error
that proved decisive. Leading the way for the Beavers were CF
Miguel Miranda with three hits and three runs scored, 1B Dave DiGangi with two
hits and three RBI, and SS Patrick O’Quinn with a pair of singles. Derek Ross
and Sammy Kilpatrick shared mound duties, both pitching well.
March 13, 2004
The Beavers opened the 2004 season in grand style at Clearwater, Fla., scoring
an all-time single-game team record for runs in a resounding 27-6 victory over
Rochester. A 12-run outburst in the second inning matched a team record for runs
in a single inning. The Beaver attack was paced by C Teddy Dziuba, who went 5-5,
with two doubles and seven RBI, tying him in that department for the team
single-game high for runs knocked in with Kevin Higa. 1B Nate Laliberte banged
out four hits, as did SS Billy Schmitt, who also had four RBI. It was frosh
Schmitt's first game in a Babson uniform. CF Chris Mearn had three hits,
including a homer, and four RBI. Jeff Heighington was the benefactor of the
Beaver onslaught, as he threw a complete game.

SS/2B Skip Short elected captain of Babson baseball for the 1983 season.
March 14, 2004
Between games of the Babson-Trinity doubleheader at the University of Tampa,
Lelo Prado, former Tampa star back on campus to receive a distinguished alumni
award, and who went on to become one of the winningest college coaches in
history at the University of Louisville and the University of South Florida,
commented that Beaver outfielder Tyler Doehler had "...the sweetest swing from
the left side that I've seen in a long, long time, and I've seen some good
ones." Babson won the first game, 3-2, behind Jason Kosow, before dropping the
nightcap, 9-4. Hitting in his customary cleanup spot in the order, Doehler
banged out a basehit in each game.

The Beaver 9 outlasts West Liberty at Cocoa Beach, Fla., for a 9-7 win. 1B Dave DiGangi had two hits and three RBI, with C Greg Foster and DH Tony Casto each banging out two hits. Marc Cirrone came through in the clutch with a ninth-inning line-drive single that plated two runs for the Beavers and provided the margin of victory, as West Liberty mounted a two-run rally in the bottom half of the inning before DiGangi took the mound to quell the uprising.

Scoring 12 runs in the fifth inning, Babson whacks MacMurray, 22-3, at Ft.
Myers, Fla. SS Kevin Higa and 1B Nate Laliberte led the barrage, each with three
hits and four RBI. Southpaw Scott Wisdom pitched the win for the Beavers. C
Teddy Dziuba tied an NCAA record by being hit by a pitched ball twice in one
inning....the 12-run fifth.
March 23, 2001
With the scheduled season opener canceled by a snowstorm, the Beaver squad
completes its community service commitment to The Greater Boston Food Bank by
adding a day to its service. Babson baseball receives a commendation for
outstanding service.

Athletics Director Bill Olson takes over as first head coach for Babson
baseball.
March 27, 1994
Beavers beat UMass-Dartmouth, 5-1, on the strength of clutch hitting and solid
pitching. Sammy Kilpatrick picked up the win, with relief help from Brian
Rountree and 1B Dave DiGangi. 2B Scott MacCausland had the game’s big hit, a
three-run double in the sixth inning. C Greg Foster spanked a couple of hits.
